THE CHALLENGES OF BEING AN ADULT
(March, 2024) Reddit asked, “What is the most challenging aspect of adulting?” Some of the responses:
– “Waking up to work.”
– “Going to bed on time.”
– “Thinking of something to cook everyday.”
– “How there is absolutely no free time. There is always something that needs to be done.”
– “Nothing is ever *finished*. I pay a bill and next month I have to pay it again. Fix the house and next month it’s the plumbing. Replace a timing belt and next week it’s the alternator.”
– “Not getting behind on yard work. Bought my first home last October, and I didn’t care for the yard immediately and now there are tons of weeds.”
– “Keeping my place clean.”
– “Putting clean laundry away.”
– “Looking after myself. I haven’t showered since yesterday. I should have a shower now, but I don’t really feel like it.”
– “Tax season still gives me nightmares.”
– “Figuring out who is operating in good faith and who is trying to screw you over.”
– “I don’t know how to make friends as an adult.”
– “Staying connected with everyone. Months go by before ever realizing I haven’t talked to this person in awhile.”
* Relax. That person you haven’t talked to stopped taking showers. You don’t really want to hang out with them.
* Boy, you can sure tell the age of people who read Reddit. Just outta school.
* Once again, stuff rich people don’t have to worry about.
* Maybe adulting would be easier if you DIDN’T SPEND SO MUCH TIME ON INTERNET TIME-WASTERS LIKE REDDIT.
* You can tell right now that laundry guy isn’t going to make it.
* PHONE TOPIC: What do you find challenging about being an adult?
