WHAT LIE HAVE YOU TOLD THAT SOMEONE BELIEVED?

(January, 2024) Reddit asked, “What lie have you told that someone believed?” Some of the responses:
– “I have convinced a surprising number of people that civil rights leader Jesse Jackson is the eldest of the performing Jackson siblings and that he was never in the Jackson 5 because he was already too old.”
– “I once convinced my friends I was fluent in dolphin. Said I spent a summer internship as a marine mammal translator.”
– “In first grade I pretended to be left handed for the entire year. I just thought it was cooler.”
– “I told my mom when I was 19 years old that I won a prize at my university which consisted of a free trip to the UN in Geneva. The fake prize was awarded in December. In reality: I wanted to visit my boyfriend and my mom would have never let me at that age. I’m 31 now. She still brags about that prize with her friends. Who am I to take it away from her?”
– “I told my son that Alex Trebek was a robot. He believed me for a long time.”
– “My twin brother has an extra rib and I’m missing one.”
– “Some species of Wolves do in fact lay eggs.”
– “I have a friend who in his middle school days lied about playing the guitar so then he ended up learning guitar so he wouldn’t be found out. He says it’s the best thing that ever happened for him.”
