(June, 2023) Buzzfeed asked, “What’s the most extravagant things you’ve seen in a rich person’s home?” Some of the responses: – “My friend was super wealthy and he had suits of knight armor and axes from Vikings, and a crown made of gold.” – “It had two indoor swimming pools.” – “A rich friend of my mother had a chapel in her home and a live-in priest.” – “A rich friend who raised horses spent over $100k to install Brazilian rosewood floors in their horse stables.” – “At a private school, a new 13-year-old student was moving in, and his parents were inspecting his dorm room. They were concerned he would be sharing a room with another student, and also they were genuinely confused why he didn’t have another room. The dorm advisor asked why he needed to have another room in addition to this one. The parents asked, sincerely, ‘Where will his private chef sleep?'” – “I was at a wealthy person’s wedding. Each table had its own two-tier wedding cake! The main wedding cake alone had to have been well over $15k, and each ‘baby’ cake was a replica of the bigger one.” – “I went to a friend’s house for the first time once and stopped at the gate. I called up and asked if I should go to the house on the left or the right after the gate opened, assuming one of the houses belonged to a neighbor. Turns out, the house on the right was just a house for their cars (it could fit 12 cars).”
