THE AGE AT WHICH WE CHEAT

A new study has revealed exactly when people are most likely to cheat on their partners. The study, published in the Journal of Sex Research, looked at 423 people who were in long-term relationships. (* Not after this study, I bet.)
– Women who were in the early stages of marriage, or have been wed for 10 years or more, were more likely to stay faithful. But from 6 to 10 years into a marriage is when females are more inclined to be unfaithful. Those women in between were more likely to stray, due to the pressures of raising children and facing middle age with the same partner.
– For men, the result was different. It showed those married for 11 or more years were the most likely to cheat. Researchers put this down to the fact that this is the time men might focus on what they haven’t achieved in life and the evolutionary desire to produce more offspring.
* So women do it because they’re sick of the kids, and men do it because they don’t have enough kids. Go figure.
* “Men might focus on what they haven’t achieved in life.” For example: “Gee, I wish I’d been with more women.”
* So you ladies who have been married for 9 years but haven’t cheated – it’s time to step up your game.
* Once again, I have to fault my high school guidance counselor for not telling me ‘sex research’ was a career option.
