RESTAURANT HAS BRUTALLY HONEST FOOD DESCRIPTIONS
Feigang Fei is the owner of the Aunt Dai Chinese restaurant in Montreal. He’s been making headlines for his “brutally honest” menu descriptions. He doesn’t claim to have the best food. Mr. Fei says, “A lot of people want to be the best … and we are simply not the best. That’s a fact. We just try to be a little bit better every day. And that’s how I see it.” Each item on the Aunt Dai menu is accompanied by a description written by Fei himself. On some of them, he boasts how great they are. Others, he’ll say, “too dry” or “not THAT good.”
– Peanut Sauce Chicken: “I don’t know why but peanut sauce chicken is liked by a lot of customers.”
– Broccoli Beef: “Don’t let the name fool you, this one is NOT authentic Chinese food.”
– Satay Sauce Beef: “I still don’t have chance to taste it. Looks like I should spend more time eating in my own restaurant.”
– Black Pepper Stir-Fry: “Don’t let the name fool you, this one is NOT authentic Chinese food.
– General Tao Chicken: “I am no expert on North American Chinese food but I like our General Tao a lot, a lot more than what I would have thought.”
– Orange Beef: “Comparing to our General Tao Chicken, this one is not THAT good. Anyway, I am not big fan of North American Chinese food and it’s your call.”
– Sweet and Spicy Pork Chops: “I am not a huge fan for our version to be honest.”
– Mouth-Watering Chicken: “This dish is very well-known and we are not 100% satisfied with the flavor now and it will get better really soon. Our Sichuan Pepper Chicken Salad is better than this one.”
* Here’s how honest he is: at the top of the dessert menu, he wrote, “Hey, lard butt, you don’t need this.”
* Boy, he’s really assimilated into the Canadian ethos: “Sorrey about my food. Sorrey about the taste. Sorrey sorrey sorrey.”
* Why does he bother? Brutaly honest reviews is what YELP is for.
* Anyway, these are far from “brutal.” I don’t see the words “sucks” or “puke” anywhere.
* I bet his wife loves him in the sack. “Sorry, I could have been better. I’m not a huge fan of this. Maybe you should try someone else.”
