WEALTHIER DRIVERS GET MORE TICKETS
(April, 2015) According to new survey from insuranceQuotes.com, 29% of wealthy drivers – Americans with incomes of $75,000 or higher – report receiving a moving violation ticket in the last five years, but only 21 percent of those drivers saw an increase in their insurance premiums. On the other hand, people with incomes under $50,000 were less likely to get a ticket but more likely to see their premiums jump. Laura Adams, senior analyst at insuranceQuotes.com. says the reason wealthier people get more tickets could be because they have faster cars, or maybe they’re on the road more, or maybe they just care less about tickets. But that doesn’t explain why their insurance rates don’t go up proportionally.
* Run that by me again.
* How’s this: Insuring the expensive cars of rich people is a lucrative business, and the insurance companies don’t want to annoy their rich policyholders and provoke them to switch companies. Meanwhile, they could care less if someone with an eight-year-old used car drops them.
* If the message is that the rich have advantages we don’t have, I think I can save you some time.
* Is there ANY part of life where rich people don’t have it better than the rest of us?
* I know. Regular people don’t have to worry about keeping their yacht in good condition.
