BIRTHDAY SURVEY
A study conducted by website Evite looked into the birthday celebration habits of 2,000 Americans.
– One in three – 35% of us – have forgotten their partner’s birthday.
– Men are twice as likely to forget as women.
– 28% expect their partner to do something big for their birthday.
– 35% have planned a surprise party.
– 36% have explicitly told their partner not to do anything for their birthday but still expected them to do something.
– 17% of Americans have gone so far as to plan their own birthday party because they simply didn’t trust their partner to do it well.
– 12% have ended up fighting with their partner over a birthday party.
* And all of the above are plot tropes for sit-coms.
* If only there was some kind of, I don’t know, little pocket-sized device that could remind you of stuff like upcoming birthdays.
* How can you fight with anybody if there’s cake? I don’t understand it.
* Fun fact: You have an almost 7% higher chance of dying on your birthday than another day. So maybe just keep the birthday thing on the down-low.
* PHONE TOPIC: My Worst Birthday.
