FAMILIES WHO TEXT EACH OTHER AT HOME

(February, 2017) According to a new study by British insurance company Aviva:
– Just under a third of us (32 per cent) are guilty of texting someone under the same roof when you want to talk to them.
– 45 per cent of households with children text each other when they are in the same house.
– In a third of households, people use their cell phones during their mealtimes.
– More than four in ten parents complain their children have ignored them at the table because they were so distracted by their phones.
* “Guilty of texting”? So we’re tech-shaming now?
* (From the internet:) Of course, texting is a great thing when you’re stuck on the toilet and the roll is empty.
* You can threaten your kid today with, “Wait ’til your father FaceTimes home.”
* The category here is “That darn social media. It’s ruining everything!”
* Even mopey, sullen, never-talking teenagers can’t resist the pull of a text message.
* I’ll tell you when it’s gone too far: If you text a family member at the table to pass the potatoes.
* PHONE TOPIC: Do you text your kids in the house?
