SWEARING MAKES YOU STRONGER

(May, 2017) A new study claims that swearing can boost muscle strength and stamina. Psychologists from the University of Keele in Staffordshire, England, conducted tests in which some participants were asked to swear before either doing an intense session on an exercise bike or squeezing a device that measures hand grip strength. In both situations, they found that swearing rudely resulted in significant improvements in performance compared with uttering ‘neutral’ words. Dr Richard Stephens, who led the study, says exactly why it is that swearing has these effects on strength and pain tolerance remains to be discovered. “We have yet to understand the power of swearing fully,” Dr Stephens added.
* Well, get the (bleep) on it, doc.
* When I heard this all I could say was “WTF”.
* No, it’s an FCC thing. That’s literally all I can say.
* That’s strange. When my boss swears at me it doesn’t make my work any stronger.
