WALK 20 MINUTES A DAY
(January, 2015) Researchers at Cambridge University say that a 20-minute walk at a vigorous pace, or a bicycle ride of the same duration, would move an individual from being classed as inactive to moderately inactive. That small change alone would increase your life span by nearly 12 months. Even a small increase in physical activity each day like walking up escalators or using the stairs instead of the elevator could provide significant health benefits.
* The doughnut shop is, what, about ten minute’s walk from the radio station? So I’m good.
* Oh, wait – it has to be a “vigorous pace”? There goes that idea.
* If a 20 minute bicycle ride gives you an extra 12 months, does a 20 minute unicycle ride give you only six months?
* If you’re going to walk up escalators, pick the ones that are going up, or you’ll be there all day.
