LAST SUPPERS OF DEATH ROW INMATES

The following are actual last meals requested by Texas Death Row inmates.

Ronald O’Brien (exec. 3/31/84): T-bone steak (medium to well done), French fries and catsup, whole kernel corn, sweet peas, lettuce and tomato salad with egg and French dressing, iced tea, sweetener, saltines, Boston cream pie, and rolls.
* If it were me, I’d send my steak back to the chef and say that I would like it cooked about another 40 years.

Charles Bass (3/12/86): Plain cheese sandwich.
* The second biggest mistake of this guy’s life.

Jeffrey Barney (exec. 4/16/86): Two boxes of frosted flakes and a pint of milk.
* Breakfast – the most important meal of the day.

Michael Evans (exec. 12/4/86): Declined last meal.
* “I’m sorry. I’m on a diet.”

Ramon Hernandez (exec. 1/30/87): Beef tacos, beef enchiladas, jalapeno peppers, salad onion, hot sauce, shredded cheese and coffee.
* Wow. This guy, they just put him in a small closet and let him gas himself.

Eliott Johnson (exec. 6/24/87): Cheeseburger and fries.
* Do you want that to go?

Johnny Garrett (exec. 2/11/92): Ice cream.
* Ooo! Brain freeze! Man, there’s nothing worse than a brain freeze! Oh – sorry, Johnny.”

Ruben Cantu (exec. 8/24/93): Barbecue chicken, refried beans, brown rice, sweet tea and bubble gum (bubble gum is not permitted under TDCJ regulations).
* Oh, come on, give the guy a last blow!

Richard Beavers (exec. 4/4/94): Six pieces of French toast with syrup, jelly, butter, six barbecued spare ribs, six pieces of well burned bacon, four scrambled eggs, five well cooked sausage patties, French fries with catsup, three slices of cheese, two pieces of yellow cake with chocolate fudge icing, and four cartons of milk.
* There’s enough cholesterol to kill him AND the guy in the cell next to him.

Bernard Amos (exec. 12/6/95): Two turkey sandwiches.
* He likes to keep one for a midnight snack.

And finally:
Robert Madden (exec. 5/28/97): Asked that final meal be provided to a homeless person.
* It’s never too late to try to score some points with the Big Guy.
