POLICE OFFICER CHARGED IN SCAM TO GET CHEAPER DONUTS
A British police officer is accused of trying to buy a £9.95 box of donuts for seven pence by sticking a cheaper barcode on them. Police Constable Simon Read, from Cambridgeshire Police, allegedly went into a Wisbech supermarket back in February, wearing his uniform while on duty, and selected a £9.95 tray ($13.20 U.S.) of 12 Krispy Kreme donuts. He then went to the produce section and used self-service scales to obtain a barcode sticker for carrots with a price of seven pence (9 cents). He stuck the carrot barcode on the donut tray and scanned it at a self-service checkout so that he could pay a lower price. He faces a hearing next week.
* And that’s the hole story.
* Pilfering donuts. What a crumb.
* You’d think a police officer would treat donuts with a little more respect.
* When they busted him, he was said to have had a glazed look on his face.
* The bigger story is, who makes money selling carrots for 9 cents?
