MOUNT EVEREST IS NOW 30 FEET TALLER

Mount Everest, the highest point on Earth, is now 30 feet taller after China and Nepal, the nations the mountain borders, both agreed to a new measurement after separate calculations. Back in 1856, a British team first calculated it as 29,002 feet. Now, China and Nepal say that it is officially 29,031.7 feet tall. That is 13 feet higher than China’s last calculation 15 years ago, when they measured the rock height of the summit and didn’t include the snow and ice on the peak, but Nepal was including the snow in their measurement.
* It’s always a peak measuring contest with you two, isn’t it?
* Crap. Now I have to change the scale model in my “Great Mountains of the World” diorama in the basement.
* They’re going to have to redo all the numbers when the cell phone tower goes in at the top.
* Won’t have to worry about all that ice and snow much longer, will we?
