WORLD’S MOST EXPENSIVE ICE CREAM

The world’s most expensive ice cream delicacy is made by Japanese ice cream brand Cellato. A serving of the delicious treat named Byakuya costs a steep 873,400 Japanese yen which equates to about $6,696 per serving in the U.S. The reason for the inflated price is the ingredients: it’s made with a rare white truffle grown in Alba, Italy. The truffle – a mushroom – is priced at 2 million Japanese yen or $15,000 per kilogram. Staff at Cellato who participated in the tasting session describe the ice cream as “rich in both taste and texture.”
* Which is ironic, because to order it, you have to be rich in both cash and gold.
* First it melts your wallet, and then in your mouth.
* Did we mention that “Byakuya” translates to “soak the rich”?
* Mushroom ice cream. How has that not taken off over here?
* Of course, it’s Japanese so they’ve probably added squid bits.
* Y’know, I would try some but, dang it – no lactose-free version. Oh, well.
