WOMAN STEALS STONE PAVERS, THREATENS TO SUE FOR BACK INJURY
A 54-year-old Florida woman was arrested for stealing cement pavers from a home in Port Richey. Julie Ann Upright was found with 42 cement decorative blocks, worth $420, in her vehicle. The homeowner told detectives that he caught Upright taking the blocks without permission. They were part of a remodeling project and were stored in the front yard, about 4 feet from the roadway. Ms. Upright said she thought they were trash. Deputies said she then threatened to sue the homeowner because she hurt her back on his property while loading the blocks into her vehicle.
* How many pavers had she moved before she came up with that line of defense, do you think?
* And you just know there would be lawyers lining up to take her case.
* She thought they were trash? Then explain the seven garden gnomes in the trunk.
* Upright is an odd name for someone with a back injury, no?
* Ironically, $420 is about what it’s going to cost her for a new set of shocks.
