WOMAN SCAMMED OVER $50,000 SKIN CARE MACHINE
A New York woman was scammed out of $50,000 for a machine that was promised to keep her skin youthful. Emma Felix, 65, handed over her entire life savings for a crystal-encrusted skin care machine and companion treatments at the Epidermis salon in Chelsea on May 18, 2017. First, she paid $9,800 for a skin care machine called the Perfectio Gold, a 12-massage package, two facials and other products. Two days later the salon telephoned her about a special Mother’s Day facial and another crystal-covered Perfectio machine worth $100,000 but since Felix was a “loyal and loved customer” they’d sell it to her at a 50 percent discount. When she resisted they became increasingly aggressive and abusive, and even drove her to her bank where she withdrew $50,000 from her account. Four days later she returned the unused machine for a refund, but the salespeople refused to give Felix her money back. She’s now suing for the refund plus nearly $500,000 in punitive damages.
* She got skinned, alright.
* This adds a new wrinkle to ripoffs.
* Her life savings. So the plan was to be homeless living in a cardboard box … with perfect skin?
* A “loyal and loved customer”? Must be “tough love”.
* PHONE TOPIC: Ladies, have you ever been scammed on a beauty product?
