WOMAN GIVES BIRTH TO TEN BABIES
A South African woman has given birth to 10 babies. Gosiame Sithole (* Yes, that’s her name, no misspelling), 37, who already has six-year-old twins, claims that her pregnancy was natural and she was not on fertility treatments. Doctors originally detected six babies, but more recently upped the estimate to eight, so they were surprised when doctors at a hospital in Pretoria delivered her seven boys and three girls by Caesarean section. This breaks the record for the most children born at the same birth, which was just set last month by a woman who gave birth to nine children at a hospital in Morocco. Before that, American Natalie Suleman in 2009 gave birth to eight babies, earning the nickname “Octomom.” The folks at Guinness World Records say they have yet to verify the story. Sithole was 29 weeks into her pregnancy. A full term is about 40 weeks. The children will be spending the next few months in an incubator. The capper – her husband is unemployed.
* That’s fine – he’s gonna be needed at home.
* Honest to god, I would skip the naming and just write a number on the top of their head with a Sharpie.
* Do you realize that’s going to be 200 fingernails and toenails to clip every couple of week?
* There’s an African saying, “It takes a village to raise a child.” What happens when the children outnumber the villagers?
