WOMAN DISCOVERS FERTILITY DOCTOR IS HER BIRTH FATHER

An Idaho woman using Ancestry.com to discover her family history was shocked to find out that her real father was the fertility doctor treating her parents back when they were trying to conceive. Kelli Rowlette was surprised when the Ancestry website suggested a parent-child relationship between herself and a man she had never heard of named Mortimer. She assumed it was a mistake. At the time, Rowlette didn’t know that more than 36 years ago, her parents had used a fertility doctor to artificially inseminate her mother. Several months later, Rowlette was helping her father sort through old papers when she came across her birth certificate, which was signed by Dr. Mortimer. She recognized the name from the Ancestry test. Rowlette contacted her parents, and they figured out the truth. The parents had wondered why the doctor cried when, after baby Kelli was born, they told him they were moving to Washington state. The family is now suing Dr. Gerald Mortimer, a now-retired obstetrician gynecologist, of fraud and medical negligence.
* The first lawsuit of many, we can guess.
* This is gonna keep Maury Povich on the air for another three years, at least.
* Wait – how do we know the mom didn’t just have a fling with the doctor?
* Sounds like Ancestry.com is getting even more of our personal info than Facebook.
