WOMAN CUT SCAFFOLDING ROPE OF HIGH-RISE PAINTERS
A Thai woman faces up to 20 years in prison for attempted murder. She allegedly cut a rope supporting the scaffolding of two painters working on her high-rise condo, leaving them dangling hundreds of feet in the air. Video of the Oct. 12 incident shows the workers hanging outside the 26th floor of the building near Bangkok, asking residents to open a window and let them in. One worker said he and two other men were lowering themselves down from the 32nd floor when they realized they were unstable and began calling for help. A resident opened their window and brought the men in to safety. The 34-year-old woman at first denied she was responsible but then confessed that she had been angered when the painters appeared outside her room — and she hadn’t seen an announcement by the condo’s management.
* Pfff, women, ammirite? A perfectly logical response to seeing someone outside your 26th floor window.
* She’s going down. Down like a, oh, a like painter from a high-rise scaffold whose rope has just been cut. Down like that.
* The video’s pretty scary … unless you play circus music along with it, in which case it’s hilarious.
* These painters – have they ever considered the benefits of wire cable?
* Every day since October 12, they come to the building to finish painting, walk onto the scaffolding, think about raising it up off the ground, then get back in their cars and go home.
