WOMAN BRINGS DEAD MAN TO BANK TO CO-SIGN A LOAN

A Brazilian woman brought the corpse of an elderly man into a Rio de Janeiro bank Tuesday to get him to co-sign on a $3400 loan. The scene was captured on bank security camera. The woman, Erika de Souza Vieira Nunes, is standing next to the dead man seated in a wheelchair. She is holding up his drooping head and moving his arm. She starts talking to him, saying, “Uncle, are you listening? You need to sign. If you don’t sign, there’s no way, because I can’t sign for you.” When a bank worker tries to point out that the man’s color looks off and he appears “not well,” Nunes says,“He is like that. He doesn’t say anything. Uncle, do you want to go to the hospital again?” Paramedics called to the scene confirmed that the 68-year-old man had passed away a few hours earlier. Nunes was arrested at the scene. She told police she was his niece as well as his caregiver.
