WHEN OCTOPUSES RULE THE WORLD

Professor Tim Coulson of the University of Oxford has determined that, if humans were to ever completely leave this earth, the dominant species will be…. any guesses? Octopus. Octopuses are the species that are most likely to take over the world after humans. The cephalapods are said to possess the ‘physical and mental attributes necessary’ to evolve into the next civilization-building species. Their ‘dexterity, curiosity, ability to communicate with each other, and supreme intelligence’ means they could create complex tools to build a civilization underwater. And although the octopus is ‘unlikely’ to develop into a full land animal, it’s clever enough to ‘extend’ its time out the water to develop new methods of hunting. Professor Coulson, who is one of the world’s leading zoologists and biologists and has advised governments, said the octopus is now in ‘pole position’ to colonize the world in the event humanity dies out.
* Thank you, Doctor Octopus. Say hi to Spider-man for me.
* Said the world’s octopuses: “So long, suckers!”
* This news is not going to make the cockroaches happy.
* Did Tim the Professor explain why, if octopuses could evolve into the next civilization-building species, they haven’t done it in the 200 million years they’ve been around? Didn’t think so.
* There’s only one way to prevent this, and it’s going to take a lot of tartar sauce.
