VIDEO SCREEN BLUE LIGHT MAKING US ALL PREMATURELY OLD
Researchers at the Department of Integrative Biology at Oregon State University report that too much blue light from electronic gadgets like televisions, laptops, and smartphones can accelerate the aging process. The say the blue light may have detrimental effects on a wide range of cells in our body, from skin and fat cells, to sensory neurons. Their experiments have shown that chemicals that are essential for cells to function correctly are altered by blue light. The research team experimented with fruit flies and discovered that the light from screens affected them as well. This is significant, since humans and flies have similarities on a cellular level. The cells in fruit flies don’t function at an optimal level after exposure to blue light, which they suggest could lead to premature death.
* Where is this blue light coming from? The wallpapers on my devices are green fields with flowers.
* And wouldn’t it be a good thing if it damaged our fat cells?
* All I know is I never feel older than when I’m trying to figure out apps on my cell phone or figure out my smart TV.
* So all these years, Kmart’s Blue Light Specials were turning us all into geriatric feebs.
* There’s nothing worse than Alzheimered fruit flies: “Didn’t I already land on this banana once?”
* I think this story was made up by the people who sell Botox.
