VENEZUELA PRISON HAD POOL, ZOO, NIGHTCLUB, SATELLITE TV
The Venezuelan government deployed 11,000 soldiers and police in an operation to retake control of a prison in the north-central state of Aragua that had come under the control of the Tren de Aragua gang. Inside the prison, officials discovered a mini-city that had a zoo, a nightclub, a playground and an in-ground swimming pool with a hot tub. The criminal group had set up small shacks where some inmates lived with their families and had access to satellite television and the internet. The zoo is said to have housed tigers, lions, crocodiles and pumas that were used to keep prisoners in line and scare away government officials. There was a restaurant were prisoners dined with their visitors. There was also a baseball field, a room for gambling, and another room where inmates illegally mined cryptocurrency. There was a storage yard with dozens of motorcycles. Not to mention a large cache of guns and explosives. There was a tunnel with several exits, including one that led to a lake where three wooden rafts were stationed on the shore. The inmates were transferred out to other detention facilities.
* Dang! And they were just going to build an airport to service a new casino.
* No wonder the recidivism rate is so high in Venezuela.
* It’s the only prison in the world with a negative escape rate – people are actually breaking in to stay there.
* The word “prison” must have a different meaning down there.
* Why the hell are these people coming to America? Get arrested and go to jail – this is better than my condo.
