VANDALS STRIKE THE "FIELD OF DREAMS" BASEBALL FIELD

The baseball field in an Iowa cornfield made famous in the movie “Field of Dreams” sustained thousands of dollars in damage after somebody drove a vehicle onto the field earlier this week, tearing up the turf and leaving deep ruts through the infield and out into center and left field. The field in eastern Iowa, created for the 1989 movie “Field of Dreams”, has been kept alive by baseball and movie fans and games are played on it throughout the summer. Al Steffen, the field manager for the site in Dyersville, Iowa, discovered the damage early Tuesday as workers reported to work. Steffen said he won’t be able to determine how much damage the site suffered until sometime in the spring, when he turns on the sprinklers and sees if there was any damage to the system. The field did not have security cameras, so officials are not sure of the type of vehicle responsible for the damage.
* A UFO that’s really, really bad at making crop circles?
* This is why we can’t have nice movie memorabilia.
* If you build it, they will come and drive on it.
* Why didn’t those baseball player ghosts scare them off?
* This big question now: Will Kevin Costner step up and do the right thing?
* “If you liked it, then you should have put a fence around it.”
