UNITED AIRLINES KILLS PASSENGER'S DOG

United Airlines managed to kill a woman’s pet dog on a flight Monday night. According to a passenger on United flight 1284 from Houston to New York, a passenger boarded the flight with a TSA-compliant pet carrier with a small dog inside. For unknown reasons, the flight attendant insisted that the passenger stow the carrier – with the dog inside – in an overhead bin for the duration of the flight. The passengers reported hearing barking for part of the flight. But by the end of the trip, horrified passengers found the dog had died in-flight. A United spokesperson provided the following statement:
“This was a tragic accident that should never have occurred, as pets should never be placed in the overhead bin. We assume full responsibility for this tragedy and express our deepest condolences to the family and are committed to supporting them. We are thoroughly investigating what occurred to prevent this from ever happening again.”
(Note: there is no extra information, such as 1) did anyone check on the dog regularly? 2) if the carrier was compliant, what was the problem? 3) why was this woman flying with her dog?)
* United Airlines is really looking for a repeat of last year’s “Best Public Relations Move”. That was when they dragged that African-American doctor off the plane because they overbooked the flight.
* This is United’s way of saying “The gloves are off, folks!”
* If it’s any consolation, when they win the lawsuit, they’ll be able to buy a new dog and a mansion for it to live in.
* At least the dog made it’s connecting flight to doggie heaven.
* How’d you like to be the next person who uses that overhead bin?
