U OF WISCONSIN: THE MEN'S PROJECT

The femification of men continues at the University of Wisconsin in Madison, which offers something called the “Men’s Project,” a six-week program that aims to counter the alleged harmful effects of society’s masculinity paradigms and pressures, and empower participants to promote “gender equity.” According to the school, “Men’s Project creates a space for critical self-reflection and dialogue about what it means to be a man and how masculinity impacts us and those around us.” The course is open only to “men-identified students”. Participants will begin the project with a weekend retreat in February and continue meeting weekly, discussing topics such as media and pop culture, vulnerability, sexuality, hook-up culture, alcohol, relationships and violence.
* I don’t think any guy in this course has to worry about hook-up culture.
* For the final, you have to write a 500-word essay titled, “Why I’m Not Such A Dick.”
* What it means to be a man? Wasn’t that spelled out pretty well in the “Hangover” movies?
* And if those aren’t clear enough, how about the “Fast and Furious” movies?
* Where is this leading? Will the U.S. Army eventually try coaxing ISIS out of their occupied territory with aromatherapy?
* Gender equity? This could be the next big scam after we’re done greening everything.
* I don’t really understand the project, but clearly these guys have their panties in a bunch about something.
* As part of the program each man must spend 15 minutes a day insulting his penis.
* That’s the critical self-reflection part.
