AUDIO: TWO WOUNDED DURING GUNFIGHT AT OK CORRAL
An actor staging a historical gunfight in the Old West town of Tombstone, Arizona, and a bystander were shot with live rounds during a show that was supposed to use blanks. The shooting happened Sunday afternoon as two performers re-enacted a gunfight in the town made famous by Wyatt Earp, Doc Holliday, the Clanton gang and the O.K. Corral. One of the actor’s guns fired live rounds, hitting a fellow member of the group. Ken Curtis (* Festus?!) fell to the ground and was flown to a hospital in Tucson, where he underwent surgery to remove the bullet. At least two bullets struck nearby businesses, with one hitting a female bystander, whose condition was not immediately known. Authorities inspected the weapon and found one live round along with five casings that indicated the gun was filled with live rounds prior to the skit.
* How do we make it safer? Get ready for the SuperSoaker Fight At The OK Corral.
* This is one situation where a man really does want to be shooting blanks.
* It could have been worse. What if it had been a Cannon Fight at the OK Corral?
* You’d think Doc Holliday would jump right in and treat them.
* Then, in all the confusion, someone robbed the stagecoach.
* It might be the OK Corral but this was not OK.
* “My that one actor is really convincing. It’s like he was really shot.”
* It’s all part of the New Realism in Performance Arts.
* That rustling sound you hear is everyone going through their insurance policies.
* This is nothing. You should have seen what happened when Montana tried to reenact Custer’s Last Stand.
