TODAY IS …
(All days repeat annually on today’s date unless otherwise noted; days may or may not be called “National”/”International”/”World” depending on source; sources listed often have additional info. We generally do not list special days which were created by commercial companies for the purpose of marketing, or the hundreds of disease awareness listings which occur each year.)
CHICKEN SOUP FOR THE SOUL DAY
The Days of the Year website says this:
National Chicken Soup for the Soul Day is actually a media, consumer good, and self-help business that is situated in Connecticut’s Cos Cob area. The brand is familiar thanks to its series of books entitled Chicken Soup for the Soul. In fact, they have been popular for a couple of decades now, with more than 110 million copies being sold in Canada and the United States. Not only is National Chicken Soup for the Soul Day about celebrating these books, but it is about honoring everything they stand for. These books are all about uplifting and enlightening people, and these are the sort of things that we should all be trying to do on National Chicken Soup for the Soul Day and every day forward for that matter!”
HAPPY HOUR DAY
The Checkiday Website says this:
“Happy Hour Day celebrates the time at bars and restaurants when alcoholic drinks are served at discounted prices. Happy hours usually take place for a period of time in the late afternoon – usually for more than an hour, and often between the hours of 4PM and 7PM. A 1959 article in the Saturday Evening Post referred to ‘happy hour’ as a time when servicemen had afternoon drinks in bars. It was shortly after this when the term started being more widely used by civilians throughout the United States. Various states have regulated or restricted happy hours, or even banned them.”

WEB ADDRESS ON “WICKED” DOLL BOX IS PORN SITE
The Mattel toy company has apologized after mistakenly printing the web address of a pornographic site on the packaging of its new “Wicked” dolls. The box tells kids to go to “wicked (dot)(com)” that leads to a page that requires users to be 18 years or older to enter. It should have said “WickedMovie(dot)(com)”. Mattel apologized in a statement and is advising parents to discard the packaging or cross out the link with a magic marker.
* And whatever you do, PLEASE don’t sell the box on eBay for thousands of dollars as a collector’s item.
* It’s a wicked website … just a little too wicked.
* Suddenly, I’m very, very interested in this movie.
* “Mommy, what’s this witch doing with that broomstick?”
* “Gee, even for sister witches, Glinda and Elphaba seem unusually close.”
* “Oh, and now here comes the Wizard with — is that a wand?”
THE TOP TEN SEXIEST BALD MEN
According to Reboot, a search marketing agency, here’s the top 10 list of this year’s Sexiest Bald Men. The criteria include smile, media perception, vocal attractiveness, height and shine factor:
1. Prince William
2. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson
3. Shaquille O’Neal
4. Kelly Slater (American surfer)
5. Terry Crews
6. Danny DeVito
7. Samuel L. Jackson
8. Thierry Henry (French soccer coach)
9. Stanley Tucci
10. Vin Diesel
* Sorry, did Jason Statham fall into the Twilight Zone?
* There are no glaring omissions on THAT list. They’re all glaring inclusions.
* Is Reboot left-leaning, with a little bit of a grudge against Joe Rogan?
* Prince William and Danny DeVito still have some hair left. Shouldn’t points be deducted?
* Meanwhile, Jason Alexander wonders why he gets no respect.
* And Jeff Bezos could buy the Reboot agency with the money in his couch cushions.
BLAKE SHELTON & TAYLOR SHERIDAN PRODUCING SINGING COMPETITION SHOW
“The Voice” alum Blake Shelton and Yellowstone co-creator Taylor Sheridan are executive producing a new reality competition series for CBS called “The Road.” The show will follow a headlining superstar — to be announced at a later date — as they search for the next big music artist. Sheridan, creator of the occasional TV show “Yellowstone,” said in a statement Monday, “No more shiny floors and studio audiences. This is where the rubber meets the road — literally. Get in the van, go to the next town and win the crowd. Do it enough, and you become the next leader. Simple as that.”
* Losers get pushed off a cliff. Simple as that.
* While you’re on the road, why not stop at local diners, too, and make one of those “Eating Our Way Across America” shows? Two shows for the price of one!
* With Taylor Sheridan, a fake singing contest will never feel so real as “The Road.”
* A headlining superstar searching or the next big music artist … who will replace them. Great idea.
* I like my music superstars made the old fashioned way: singing 10 random songs in front of 4 judges and having them decide who I’m supposed to like.
MISS PANAMA BOOTED FROM MISS UNIVERSE PAGEANT
Miss Panama has been expelled from this weekend’s Miss Universe pageant. The reasons are fairly vague. 19-year-old Italy Mora claims that the pageant is not covering the expenses they said they would – food, hotel fees and clothing – most notably a $7,000 dress. Mora says when she complained, they booted her. However, pageant officials claim that Mora had made “an unauthorized visit” to the hotel room of her boyfriend, which is grounds for dismissal. She thinks they are using that as an excuse to shut her up. In any case, don’t put your money on Panama in the upcoming competition, which will take place on Saturday, Nov. 16, in Mexico City, Mexico.
* Give her a break! It’s the Miss Universe pageant, not the Miss You-a-Virginverse pageant.
* Luckily, none of the other contestants sneak out to see their romantic partners. Nope, not a single one.
* Kicked out of the Universe. That sounds like a Guardians of the Galaxy plot.
* On the bright side, she can sell that dress on Facebook.
* Her name’s Italy and she’s from Panama. That would really confuse things if Miss Italy wins: “And the winner is… Italy! No – not you, Italy, the other Italy!”

ACCEPTABLE SECRETS IN A MARRIAGE
Reddit asked, “What secret is acceptable to keep from a partner in a marriage?” Some of the responses:
– “Spoilers for a show you have watched before but are rewatching with them.”
– “I witnessed my son walking for the first time about a month before she saw him walk. She was struggling with postpartum depression and was worried she wasn’t the mom she wanted to be. I let her be the one to see it.”
– “I worked very hard with my kids to ensure that their first word was ‘Mama.’ When she wasn’t around, I was going, ‘Ma-ma-ma-ma’ to the kids. I wanted her to have that wonderful moment of being the first word they said. I will never tell her that.”
– “One day when we were in the first newborn weeks, I found a used diaper in the fridge, wrapped up, next to the mayonnaise. I know she was a sleep-deprived new mama, didn’t need to hammer it home, so I threw it away and didn’t tell her about it for about five years, at which point she laughed her ass off.”
– “When you don’t really care about something that they enjoy. Just smile and let them talk about it.
– “My secret is that a golf round doesn’t actually take 8 hours. I will take it to the grave.”
– “My husband has no idea how often I eat a cheeseburger on the way home from work.”
– “I’ve been playing Mario Kart 200cc by myself for a few years now. I’m really good. My husband beats me all the time, but it’s usually because I let him. It’s my deathbed secret.”
– “One day, I woke up with a blocked ear, so I took a shower and let the warm water run into my ear. A small spider came out, and my ear instantly unblocked. If I told my partner this, she’d literally never sleep again.”
– “Where I keep the emergency candy. I hide my chocolate in an empty box of Raisin Bran.”
* PHONE TOPIC: Do you have a secret you are keeping from your partner for their own good – or YOUR own good?
INTERNATIONAL NEWSRUSSIAN BILLIONAIRE PROMISES FREE IN-VITRO, IF YOU USE HIS SPERM
A Russian billionaire tech mogul is offering women free in-vitro fertilization treatments, so long as they use his sperm for the baby. Pavel Durov, the founder of messaging app Telegram, has partnered with a fertility clinic in Russia to cover the costs for a “limited number” of women who want to get pregnant by using his sperm. Durov, 40, previously claimed that he has fathered more than 100 children through sperm donation. The IVF clinic says that Durov has been a sperm donor for more than a decade. But before you get your loins in a lather ladies, you should know Mr. Durov was previously accused of fathering three children with a woman named Irina Bolgar, and failing to support them. In addition. Durov is currently barred from leaving France while he is being investigated for whether or not he is allowing criminal activity to take place on the Telegram app.
* There’s certainly no shortage of Bond villains these days.
* This is the craziest way to meet chicks I’ve ever heard.
* A ten-year sperm donor who’s fathered over 100 kids? Talk about being full of yourself.
* Meanwhile, OUR tech billionaire Elon Musk only has 12 children. Slacker!

KEVIN COSTNER DIDN’T KNOW HE’D BEEN KILLED OFF TILL SUNDAY NIGHT’S EPISODE
Kevin Costner weighed in Monday on the death of his “Yellowstone” character John Dutton. The character was killed off in the Season 5, Part 2 premiere that aired Sunday night. Appearing on “The Michael Smerconish Program” Monday, Costgner said, “Well, I’m going to be perfectly honest. I didn’t know it was actually airing last night. I swear to God. I mean, I’ve been seeing ads with my face all over the place and I’m thinking, ‘Gee, I’m not in that one.’ I’m not in this season. But I didn’t realize yesterday was the thing. Somebody said, ‘It played last night?’ And I said, ‘Hmm, okay.’ So no, I found out about it this morning actually.”
SPOILER: At the start of the episode, John Dutton is found dead from a gunshot wound. His death is initially believed to be suicide. However, it is later revealed that John was murdered in a plot orchestrated by the lawyer Sarah Atwood (Dawn Olivieri), who is sleeping with Jamie Dutton (Wes Bentley).
When asked how he felt about John’s death, Costner said, “I didn’t see it. I heard it’s a suicide. That doesn’t make me wanna rush to go see it. They’re pretty smart people. Maybe it’s a red herring,” Costner added. “They’re very good. They’ll figure that out.” (* prediction: Of COURSE it’s a red herring. This is a soap opera. They always come back, always. And they couldn’t film these shows until he was available. Why would they have waited otherwise?)
THOMAS RHETT’S POST MALONE ELEVATOR STORY
Thomas Rhett was a recent guest on CMT, where he was asked which country star would he want to be stuck in an elevator with. It turns out, it has already happened – with Post Malone. Rhett told the story of the time he and his wife, Lauren Akins, actually did get stuck in an elevator with Posty. He said, “I was trying to leave this party that he was coming to. And I got into the elevator and he goes, ‘You’re staying, right?’ I looked at my wife and was like, ‘We’re staying.'”
