NATIONAL SAFE DAY
The National Day Calendar website says this:
“On June 4, 2013, Brooklynn Mae Mohler was the victim of a preventable shooting due to an unsecured firearm in a friend’s home. National SAFE Day holds the power to prevent tragedy from repeating itself. One in every three households in the United States has a gun stored somewhere inside. The Brooklynn Mae Mohler Foundation is committed to ending senseless child deaths through education of responsible gun ownership and empowering parents to ask about guns where their children visit. How many close friends does a child have? One in three households has a firearm. If one of those households has a gun, is it secure? What about family members? Do they visit cousins or other relatives that may have unsecured guns? Secure storage is vital to the safety of children and is the responsibility of the gun owner. There are many ways to secure a firearm, that still allow for fast access, and there is no excuse to place easy access above child safety. Parents, whether gun owners or not, need to take steps to educate children and to ask the question when in homes where their children visit– ‘Are there any unsecured firearms in the home?’
S- Secure all firearms in the home
A- Ask the question about unsecured firearms in the homes your child visits
F- Frequently talk to your children about the dangers of firearms
E- Educate and Empower others to be SAFE

ENTERTAINMENT & CELEBRITIES

ZACHARY QUINTO SO MEAN HE MADE RESTAURANT STAFF CRY

“Star Trek” actor Zachary Quinto was blasted by a Toronto restaurant for allegedly mistreating the staff and causing a scene in front of the other customers. The restaurant, Manita, posted on Instagram Sunday, writing:
“Zachary Quinto – an amazing Spock, but a terrible customer. Yelled at our staff like an entitled child after he didn’t reply to two texts to inform him his table was ready and refused to believe the empty tables in the dining room weren’t available for him despite being politely informed they were spoken for. Made our host cry and the rest of our brunch diners uncomfortable. Mr. Quinto, take your bad vibes somewhere else, we have many lovely celebrities join us at Manita but you are NOT one of them.”
* Bro, what’s got your neck all in a pinch?
* Maybe he was on his Pon Farr. You know how hormoney Vulcans can get.
* Like the Vulcans say, live long and hissy fit.
* When celebrities get hangry, it’s on a whole ‘nother level.

– “Had a crush on a girl for a little while. Then I went to a family reunion and saw her. We share great grandparents on our mother’s side.”

* PHONE TOPIC: What did your crush do that instantly killed it for you?

U.S. NEWS

POLICE ARREST MR. MONOPOLY

Officers in St. Petersburg, Florida, arrested a man Saturday evening for spray painting a wall. When officers confronted him, he wouldn’t talk. But when told that he was required to identify himself, he told police his name was ‘Mr. Monopoly’ and provided a date of birth of 4/20/1969. He was subsequently identified as Ryan Howard, 33, via his Maine driver’s license. Mr. Howard was charged with criminal mischief and for providing cops with a fake name and date of birth.
* Not identity theft?
* Of all the times for Mr. Monopoly to be caught without a “Get out of jail free” card.
* Then he tried to pay his bail with Monopoly money.
* He was spray-painting on the wall “I Hate Mr. Peanut.”
* Looks like Mr. Monopoly has lost at the Game of Life.
* Remember – if you want to take a Risk, you’d better catch a Clue.

NOW WE’RE STEALING FIRE HYDRANTS

There has been a series of fire hydrant thefts in the Florence-Firestone neighborhood of South Los Angeles. The thefts of four hydrants near the intersection of 82nd Street and Hooper Avenue mean the block doesn’t have any operating hydrants. Area resident Krystail Cousins said, “Why would you steal a fire hydrant? What are you going to do with a fire hydrant? … Now you have a whole neighborhood of houses that are in danger because we have no access for our fire department.” Similar thefts have occurred in Lynwood, according to officials.
* Suspects are described as armed and herniated.
* Flamin” idiots.
* This is obviously a job for the police K-9 corps. Dogs could track them down in a jiffy.
* Then the traffic lights went missing.

THE MUSEUM OF FOSSILIZED POO

Well, Disneyland is too expensive, you’ve been to the Grand Canyon and Mr. Rushmore… where can you take the kids this summer? To the museum of fossilized dinosaur poop. George Frandsen has earned the Guinness World Record for the world’s largest collection of corprolites, the scientific term for fossilized feces. He has 8,000 fossils that once graced the digestive tracts of ancient animals. He is now showing off the world’s largest collection of fossilized poop at his new Poo-zeum in Williams, Arizona. Frandsen says it’s “the world’s premier dinosaur poop museum and gift shop.” Admission is free.
* Thanks, but that’s a hard pass. As it were.
* I even checked with the kids, and they pooh-poohed the idea.
* To get there, just head to the main street of Williams, Arizona. You’ll smell it.
* Does it even need to be said that this is the Number Two tourist attraction in Arizona?
* What you do is, shout, “Hey – this isn’t from a dinosaur! Ew – and it’s not even fossilized!”
