THEY ARE COMING FOR OUR HOVERBOARDS
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has sent a notice to retailers and manufacturers asking them to take hoverboards off the market until they can be made so that they don’t catch fire. The Commission says that if hoverboard makers fail to bring their wares into compliance, enforcement may be taken against them. “This is us drawing a line in the sand and a notice for the entire hoverboard community,” CPSC chairman Elliott Kayesaid. Customs agents at JFK Airport confiscated almost 1,400 counterfeit and dangerous hoverboards at the end of last year. The hoverboards, which came via air cargo from China, each contained potentially explosive lithium batteries that are banned in the United States, according to a customs spokesman.
* Way to get get out in front of this before they hit the marketplace.
* Crappy products from China? What are the odds?
* They don’t want the hoverboards bursting into flames? Ahh, that’s just nitpicking.
* Riding a hoverboard with flames shooting out the back actually sounds pretty cool.
* They’re doing it “for the entire hoverboard community”? Give me a break with that.
* Translation: the skateboard lobby cut them a check.
* How much you wanna bet the custom agents took the hoverboards home for their kids?
* Sure, these are bad, but drones are fine.
* This guy sounds a little hyper about dangerous products. He should have a cigarette to relax.
* PHONE TOPIC: Were you ever hurt by a toy?
