THE MOST UNHEALTHY FOODS FROM CHAIN RESTAURANTS

The Center for Science in the Public Interest, a science-based consumer advocacy group that promotes healthy eating, has released their annual list of Most Unhealthy Foods From Chain Restaurants. First, here are the government’s recommended daily allowances:
– 2000 – 2500 calories per day
– 1500 – 2300 milligrams of sodium per day
– 25 – 37 grams of added sugar per day
– 13 grams of saturated fat per day
Now, here are the worst offenders from Chain Restaurants:
– Sonic’s Oreo Peanut Butter Master Shake: 1,720-calories, 48 grams of saturated fat and an estimated 62 grams of added sugar.
– Cracker Barrel’s Country Boy Breakfast, which features three eggs, fried apples, hash browns, sirloin steak, country ham, and biscuits with jam and gravy: 1,530-calories, 4,730 mg of sodium.
– Jimmy John’s 16-inch Giant Gargantuan sandwich: 2,190 calories, 7,720 mg of sodium.
– Chili’s Boss Burger, stacked with smoked brisket, rib meat, sausage, bacon and a hamburger patty. 2,020-calories, 3,900 mg of sodium.
– Maggiano’s Today & Tomorrow Pastas: 1,500 calories, 40-plus grams of saturated fat.
– Topgolf’s Injectable Donut Holes: 1,970 total calories, 100 grams of added sugar.
– Cheesecake Factory’s Cinnamon Roll Pancakes: 2,040 calories, 51 grams of saturated fat, 137 grams of added sugar.
– Dave & Buster’s Chicken & Waffles Sliders: 2,340 calories, 3,420 mg of sodium, 38 grams of saturated fat, 98 grams of added sugar.
* Now I want everything on this list.
* Well, shoot, now I have to re-do my menu for the week.
* In fairness, you’re not supposed to eat any of these in one, you know, drive home.
* What are they trying to do? Make the case for bulimia?
* I hate to say it, but that Oreo Peanut Butter Master Shake sounds like it would go great with Chili’s Boss Burger.
* The good news – thanks to this eye-opening report, tomorrow Americans will switch to kale and raw acorns.
