THE MEAT PATCH

A scientist specializing in experimental psychology at Oxford University, in England, has created a “meat patch” to help people curb their urge for meat. Inventor Charles Spence says that studies have shown that scent can reduce food cravings. He claims that experiencing food-related cues such as smelling a bacon aroma, can “lead us to imagine the act of eating that food.” So, if you’re craving meat, you scratch the patch on your arm to release the fried bacon smell, which is supposed to keep you from eating meat. The meat patch is currently being tested in towns in England.
* By smelling something delicious, it makes you not want to eat it? What is this, reverse-reverse psychology?
* If you find your will power fading, in a pinch you can eat the patch.
* There is one side effect – every dog in the neighborhood starts following you around.
* You know “soul patch”, right? I thought a “meat patch” was when you shaved everything but a little patch of hair next to – never mind.
* But is eating too much British meat really a problem? That’s where they boil everything until it’s just a grey sludge.
