THE CHONGQING UNDERWEAR STORM
It has been very hot and dry in Chongqing, China. In an effort to bring down the temperatures and ease drought conditions, last week authorities tried cloud-seeding, sending almost 200 rockets into the sky. The authorities claimed success, as rain soon arrived. But then, last Monday, a sudden windstorm, believed to be a result of the cloud seeding, hit without warning. The 75-mile-per-hour wind carried large amounts of laundry off of clotheslines and balconies and rooftops. Video showed bras and panties and men’s briefs sailing through air, landing in the street and snagging on trees. The event has become known as “the September 2nd Chongqing underwear crisis.”
* And September 3rd became known as “Commando Tuesday.”
* It’s lingerie-ning!
* Luckily, it was just a brief storm.
* Still, the whole town got their knickers in a twist.
* I suppose a bra and panty windstorm is better than an underwear brownout.
