USA Today has come up with a list of the Top 100 biggest tourist traps worldwide. These are places that grab a lot of attention, but those who have gone tend to rate them as “overrated” or “expensive”. Some standouts:
– The Four Corners Monument (in Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado and Utah) is the No. 1 tourist trap in the world.
– The Blue Lagoon in Iceland and Penang Hill in Malaysia are the top tourist traps in Europe and Asia.
– The California Academy of Sciences, Elvis Presley’s Graceland and the South Carolina Aquarium are the most overpriced attractions in the United States.
– The five most overrated worldwide are Voodoo Donuts in Portland, Oregon, followed by The Little Mermaid in Denmark; The Arashiyama Bamboo Grove in Japan; The Manneken Pis sculpture fountain in Belgium; The Hollywood Walk of Fame in California.
