THE BEST RESTAURANT IN THE WORLD IS IN SPAIN
The annual awards for top restaurants in the world have been announced. The list is compiled based on the votes of The World’s 50 Best Restaurants Academy (* Academy? How’s their basketball team?), which is made up of 1,080 international restaurant industry experts. The Best Restaurant in the World is one called Disfrutar in Barcelona, Spain. Described as having “imaginative and playful dishes executed with technical mastery,” diners can order food such as the Panchino doughnut filled with caviar; a frozen gazpacho sandwich; and squab with kombu spaghetti, almond and grape.
– The U.S. had two restaurants in the Top 50: New York City’s Atomix came in 6th. SingleThread, in the town of Healdsburg in California’s Sonoma Valley, was in 47th place.
* Disfrutar, as in “Dis fruit are great in a pie à la mode.”
* Y’know, I like Krispy Kreme, but I’ve always thought there was something missing. Now I know: caviar filling.
* And where can I find some spaghetti sauce with almonds and grapes?
* In my book, the best restaurants are the ones with the ketchup bottle already on the table, you don’t have to ask for it.
* (old joke) I went to a really fancy restaurant one time. They had a waiter for everything. The water waiter came over and gave us some water. The wine waiter came over and gave us wine. (pause) Then the head waiter came over.
