TAXIDERMIST WILL TURN YOUR BELOVED PET INTO A RUG

An Australian taxidermy company will preserve your beloved pet for posterity. Chimera Taxidermy, located in Victoria, calls themselves an alternative preservation and taxidermy service. The owner, Maddy (no last name), says pet taxidermy has become more popular in the last five years or so. Recently, a family came to her with their dead golden retriever. She turned it into a sort-of rug to lay on the floor. The pelt was tanned and turned to leather so the fur wouldn’t fall out, and the keepsake should last a lifetime. Maddy says she’s preserved dogs, cats parrots, foxes, raccoons and more. “Some are more of a sentimental keepsake, others are on display resting in their beds or however their owners wanted them preserved.” She says the idea is “definitely not for everyone” and that she “absolutely respects that,” but she finds it rewarding to be able to help people with their grief and allow them to keep a part of their pet forever.
* Sit. Stay. Forever. Good boy.
* You can always take it out for a drag.
* At what point do they look at the sad piece of leather and fur and think “Stupidest idea ever”? I’m gonna say the fourth day.
* This isn’t so bad. Considering the next step is eating your pet so it’ll “always be with you.”
* For most people, this would be tough to do, which is why you should use somebody else’s dog.
