TABLE FOR ONE
A couple in Värmland, Sweden, is opening up what they call “the only COVID-19-safe restaurant in the world.” It’s called Bord för En, literally “Table for One.” It’s literally a table and single chair set up in a field. There are no servers to take your order or deliver the food. Instead, Linda Karlsson and chef Rasmus Persson, the minds behind the concept, will load the food into a basket from the nearby kitchen, and send it out to the patron on a rope via a pulley system. The restaurant will serve a fixed three-course menu, which will change based on what is locally available. The restaurant will open May 10 and remain open through August 1.
* Ha ha ha, boy, this pandemic is sure getting wacky now, huh?
* What if, in the middle of the meal, in the middle of the field, you have to use the restroom?
* A rope and pulley system. One of these years drones will come to Sweden.
* I guess the demographic they’re going for is loners who are too lazy to pack a picnic.
* (As if shouting across a long distance) “Hello? Hello, chef Rasmus? This soup is cold!”
