T-REX AUCTION CANCELED
Auction house Christie’s has pulled a Tyrannosaurus rex specimen from an upcoming sale after a paleontologist expressed concerns that some parts of the dinosaur might belong to another T. rex specimen. The large T. rex specimen (* that’s a little redundant, isn’t it?), nicknamed “Shen,” was set to be auctioned off by Christie’s in Hong Kong on November 30, until a noted paleontologist cast doubt that all of the skeleton’s bones belonged to Shen. Shen was set to be the first T. rex skeleton auctioned in Asia, and expected to go for $15 million to $25 million. Instead, the current owner has now decided to loan the specimen to a museum for public display.
* I get the feeling this wasn’t a T. rex, but a Scamasaurus.
* Some of the bones, in fact, turned out to belong to one of those giant 12-foot Home Depot Halloween skeletons.
* I guess some rich guy is going to have to go shopping for a new Christmas gift for his wife.
* Can they substitute another item just as old? Like maybe one of Cher’s stage costumes?
* You folks do remember who Cher is, right?
