SUBSTITUTE TEACHER RAN FIGHT CLUB

A substitute teacher who police said encouraged students to smack each other in one-on-one fights in his Montville, Connecticut, High School class was arrested Thursday. Ryan Avery Fish, 23, told police “I’m an idiot” who just wanted to be friends with the students. The fights happened in a classroom last fall under the supervision of Mr. Fish, a substitute math teacher, and four boys, ranging in age from 14 to 16, were involved. Fish told police he did it to “let them be teenagers and get their energy out.” He added, “I will admit that I did at one point egg them on.”
