STOLICHNAYA VODKA DISASSOCIATES FROM RUSSIA
One of the companies behind Stolichnaya, the famous Russian-themed vodka, has said in a news release the brand is disassociating itself from Russia because of the country’s invasion of Ukraine. The brand will now just be known by its nickname “Stoli.” Stolichnaya was first distilled in the Soviet Union in 1938, but is now actually manufactured and bottled in Latvia. Billionaire Yuri Shefler, CEO of the Stoli Group, says, “While I have been exiled from Russia since 2000 due to my opposition to Putin, I have remained proud of the Stolichnaya brand. More than anything, I wish for ‘Stoli’ to represent peace in Europe and solidarity with Ukraine.”
* Or maybe more than anything, he wishes for his sales not to drop.

* Now that they’ve shortened the name, does anybody want to buy a warehouse full of used consonants?
