STOLEN: $4.5 MILLION IN EYESHADOW
About $4.5 million worth of eyeshadow was stolen from a San Fernando Valley warehouse that stores high-end make-up. The theft happened in January, according to Los Angeles Police officials, between Jan. 28 and Jan. 30 at a warehouse in the Devonshire area. The burglars apparently cut through the roof of the warehouse and got away with 100,000 palettes of “Modern Renaissance” eyeshadow from Anastasia, a cosmetics brand founded by Romanian-born Anastasia Soare. Each palette was worth about $45.
* Anyone seen Johnny Weir lately?
* Maybe some graffiti taggers who are tired of working in the spray paint medium?
* Warehouse security sure got a black eye.
* They need to give their alarm system a modern renaissance.
* If the theft had happened in mid-February, they could have called it the St. Valentine’s Day Mascara.
* Eye shadow, huh? Quick, get a private eye on it.
* See? In some countries thieves get punished with lashes. Here we steal makeup for our lashes.
* The founder was named Anastasia Soare? Do you know how hot you have to be to pull that name off?
* Wait…on second thought, that name “Soare” doesn’t sound too sexy.
