SPANIARD SPENT 500 DAYS IN A CAVE, ALONE

A Spanish extreme athlete has emerged from a cave after spending 500 days with no human contact. When Beatriz Flamini entered the cave in Granada on November 21, 2021, Russia had not invaded Ukraine and the world was still in the grip of the Covid pandemic. The stunt was part of an experiment closely monitored by scientists. She was monitored by a group of psychologists and researchers, but none of the experts made contact with her. Ms. Flamini, now 50, spent her time in the 230-ft (70m) deep cave exercising, drawing and knitting woolly hats. She told reporters she lost track of time after about two months. She read 60 books and drank 1,000 litres of water, according to her support team. Speaking shortly after emerging, she described her experience as “excellent, unbeatable.” The first thing she wanted to do was take a shower, saying, “I haven’t touched water for a year-and-a-half.”
* She says she can’t wait to get a McDonald’s McRib and to tell Queen Elizabeth personally all about her adventure.
* 500 days with no human contact – but plenty of imaginary friends.
* I’m still trying to figure out the athletic part of this stunt. Did she do sit ups the whole time? Longest uninterrupted handball game?
* The good news is, she’s been selected as the first human to go to Mars, sometime later this year.
