SPAIN OFFERING CASH TO MOVE OUT OF YOUR PARENTS’ HOUSE

Spain is considering offering adults a cash incentive to move out of their parents’ houses and get places of their own. If approved by parliament, the policy would provide 18- to 35-year-olds earning less than 23,725 euros a year with $250 euros a month as a rental bonus. The country is experiencing a high youth unemployment rate, a shrinking rental market, and rising rents. The combination of low rental supply and high demand further impedes young people from moving out, as rents have become prohibitively expensive. Spanish adults tend to live with their families until about age 30.
* Like the saying goes, “Mi casa, MI casa, freeloader!”
* And you thought Italy was full of mama’s boys.
* Did all the parents in Spain send in a petition or something?
* Next, all the landlords raise their rents by $250 euros a month.
* Here’s what you do: take Spain’s offer to your parents, and see if they’ll top it to get you to move out.
