“SLUDGE” VIDEOS ON TIKTOK
A new trend – which means it’s about six months old – on TikTok is something called “sludge videos.” It’s where two, three, four or more different videos play simultaneously on your little phone screen. For example: a clip from a video game, a scene from the TV show “Family Guy,” a video of ice cream being scooped, and a scene from someone’s webcast. The end result: an abstract chaos produced by mixing different audio-visual content. Some call sludge videos fun, others note it’s just one more sign of today’s overstimulated youth having zero attention spans.
* I’m sorry, you said today’s youth have zero what?
* It’s like when all the women on The View talk at the same time, but with pictures.
* They’re called sludge videos because that what they turn your brain into.
* Just remember: today’s sludge TikTok viewer is tomorrow’s air traffic controller.
* Honestly, I didn’t get a lot from that story, except now I want some ice cream.
