SCIENTISTS MEASURE MICE EMOTIONS

Researchers at the Max Planck Institute of Neurobiology have discovered different emotional facial expressions for mice. They have found that the face of a mouse looks completely different when it tastes something sweet or bitter, or when it becomes anxious. While the faces of animals can appear expressionless to us humans, the researchers say this is not so. Using machine vision, the researchers were able to reliably link five emotional states to the facial expressions of mice: pleasure, disgust, nausea, pain and fear were clearly distinguishable.
* And the mice went though all five emotional states while being forced to watch “the View”.
* Will this make it harder for them to zap the mice with electricity when they put them in those mazes?
* How do you make a mouse nauseous? Bad cheese?
* Pleasure, disgust, nausea, pain and fear. Sounds like my wedding night.
