SCHOOL BUS DRIVER FIRED FOR PICKING UP HITCHHIKER

In the tiny town of Vian, Oklahoma, a school bus driver was suspended without pay and has been recommended to be fired after she allowed a woman and a dog onto a bus with dozens of schoolchildren. Bus driver Katie Chapman is accused of picking up a “hitchhiker” and her dog on September 12 and giving the pair a ride to the woman’s home. There were approximately 24 students, in grades kindergarten through 12th, on the bus when the “hitchhiker” was picked up. But according to Chapman, the woman she picked up was a parent of students on the bus. Chapman said the woman was waiting for her children at a bus stop about half a mile from their home. She said she allowed the woman on the bus after being alerted of a fugitive on the loose in the area. Chapman said she was concerned for the woman’s safety.
* Because, frankly, her dog is a real wuss.
* I think the kids learned an important lesson from this: never be nice to anybody no matter what.
* School officials would have preferred Katie just notify authorities of the woman’s dead body after the fugitive knifed her.
* This wouldn’t have happened if little Vian had Uber. That could be Katie’s next job.
* PHONE TOPIC: Should the driver be fired? Bear in mind, this happened in pretty much middle-of-nowhere Oklahoma.
