SAVED BY A DRONE
Monday in Queensland, Australia, four adults and a six-month-old baby drove to a wilderness area known as Blencoe Falls (* No! You should NEVER let a baby drive a car!). On the way back, they crossed a creek that had become swollen from passing rain, and it swamped the car. The group was stuck between two rising creeks with no cellphone service. They camped overnight in a tent on the dirt road as heavy rain dumped over the area. The next morning, one of the men attached his mobile phone to a drone and flew it into the air high enough to get reception and send an SOS via text message. The phone also provided their exact GPS location. When he brought the drone back down he saw the message had been sent. The message made it to emergency services who were able to push a path through and rescue the group later that day.
* While the phone was up with the drone, they also ordered a survival kit which was delivered by an Amazon drone.
* SOS. Is that like LOL, or OMG, or TTYL?
* Good thing someone saw their SOS or they’d be S.O.L.
* It was like something MacGyver would do, except MacGyver would have checked the forecast and never gone out into the wilderness that day.
