SAKS FIFTH AVENUE TO OFFER TATTOOING
Saks Fifth Avenue, the famous – and famously expensive – New York department store, is going to start offering tattoos. Rivington Tattoo, which caters to rockers, athletes and Fortune 500 billionaires, will set up shop and start inking customers in a window at the store’s lower Manhattan location. The tattoo shop is part of Saks’ new concept floor, The Wellery (* Oh, puh-lease!), an area offering immersive experiences dedicated to wellness. The concept is similar to department store window Christmas displays, only when you walk by, you’ll see an old-school Victorian sitting room where people are getting live tattoos. Although, those people are rich with a capital R. Says Wass Stevens, who runs the tattoo shop, “You’d be surprised by how many Fortune 500 guys take off their $8,000 suits and $700 shirts to get tattooed.”
* It gives them street cred with their homies, as they all sit in the steam room at the yacht club.
* I heard Warren Buffet’s got complete sleeves.
* Rich guy is spotted in the window at Saks getting a tattoo, and next day all his friends needle him.
* “Did you shop at the Wellery?” “Yes, and now I feel bettery.”
