RESCUERS SAVE ST. BERNARD FROM MOUNTAIN
A St. Bernard dog had to be rescued Friday from Scafell Pike, England’s highest mountain. Daisy, a 121-pound dog, collapsed while descending from the mountain with her owners. She was displaying signs of pain in her rear legs and refused to move. Daisy’s owners kept her hydrated and fed until a 16-member rescue team was able to get on scene with a stretcher to carry her down the mountain, over obstacles including a waterfall. The operation lasted five hours. Daisy was said to be “extremely placid and compliant” during the rescue.
* Not an ounce of shame or embarrassment?
* Ah, the old “My legs hurt too much to walk back down” trick.
* You’re supposed to put a hot dog on the end of a stick to coax your dog back down.
* 16 people! Did they know there wasn’t actually a keg of brandy under Daisy’s neck?
