REPO MAN PAYS OFF CAR FOR ELDERLY COUPLE

In Red Bud, Illinois, Illini Asset Recovery co-owner Jim Ford repossessed a Buick from Stan and Pat Kippling, an elderly couple. But as he was towing the car away, he pulled over to call the bank in order to see if he could pay it off for the couple. Ford says the couple reminded him of his late grandparents. “My grandparents are gone, but you know … I could see them. I knew what was going on. Their medications have doubled, tripled, and I know that. I know that’s happening to everybody. I knew why they were behind.” Ford set up an online fundraiser and raised the bulk of the cash needed in the first eight hours. The newly paid-off car was returned to the Kipplings last Monday. Stan Kippling says getting the car back is “just like hitting the lottery.”
* In fact, that’s just what Mr. Kippling did. Took his car payment money out and played the lottery.
* Aw, this year’s sugary-sweet Christmas stories have begun.
* Is it just me, or does Jim Ford not seem all that well-suited to co-own a repo business?
* So remember, folks, when you see the Illini Asset Recovery tow truck pull up, get your sob story ready. This guy’s a pushover!
* Something tells me the IRS is about to pounce.
* Red Bud, Illinois. There has to be a back story to that name.
* According to Wikipedia, it’s named after the red bud tree. Frankly, I was hoping for more.
* I thought the repo guy was going to say, “It reminded me of when I repossessed by grandparents’ car.”
